Miners compete to solve these puzzles because the first one to do so earns the right to add a new block of transactions to the blockchain, a decentralized ledger that records all bitcoin transactions. As a reward for their efforts and computational resources expended, miners receive newly minted bitcoins and transaction fees from the transactions included in the block they mined.


This process not only incentivizes miners to participate in securing the network but also regulates the issuance of new bitcoins, ensuring a controlled and predictable supply over time.
